  ABOUT LASER RE-SURFACING

We are born with smooth, baby-soft skin. As we go through life, our skin is subject to numerous experiences that leave it less than perfect. Overexposure to the sun, alcohol use, and smoking are all known to significantly accelerate the skins natural aging process and the development of fine lines and wrinkles.

In the past, dermabrasion and chemical peels have been used to reverse the aging appearance of skin by making it smoother and younger looking with a more even complexion. The risk of scarring and unpredictable results from these types of procedures has kept many patients from seeking skin rejuvenation procedures.

Laser resurfacing now offers a safer and more effective method to remove surface imperfections, reduce lines and wrinkles with a more youthful appearance of the skin. The Coherent UltraPulse CO2 laser removes sun-damaged, aging skin, layer by layer helping to stimulate the regeneration of new collagen and healthier skin.

What Is Skin Resurfacing?
Skin resurfacing is a process by which photo-damaged and chronologically-aged skin is removed in order to provide a more youthful appearance. Resurfacing usually involves removal of the outer layer of skin known as the epidermis and the upper portion of the second layer of skin, which we call the dermis. Sun-damaged, aging skin, is removed layer by layer, helping to stimulate the regeneration of new healthy skin. Skin resurfacing using lasers became popular in 1995. Since this time, several hundred-thousand patients have undergone laser resurfacing in order to obtain a more youthful appearance of the face.
